More than 5% of BankAtlantic Bancorp's online-banking customers have moved to mobile banking, Nona A. Wilgus, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based bank's former chief merchant, said during a presentation Thursday at NCR Corp.'s 2008 Self-Service Universe Executive Conference in Orlando, Fla. BankAtlantic, which has $6 billion in assets, began offering mobile-banking services in January, and the number of active online-banking customers who signed up exceeded bank officials' expectations, says Wilgus, who now heads a bank-consulting firm in Coral Springs, Fla. "The adoption [rate] was ahead of plan," Wilgus says. "We initially expected 3% of online-banking customers to sign up." …
