FED:Kingmaker needs a rest

CAIRNS, Aug 23 AAP - Kingmaking is an exhausting business - just ask Bob Katter.

The independent member for the north Queensland seat of Kennedy MP is taking Monday
morning off to rest ahead of crucial meetings to decide the next government.

Mr Katter is one of a handful of independents and minor party representatives who will
hold the balance of power after Saturday's election delivered a likely hung parliament.

His spokeswoman said he was resting after having survived on very little sleep over
the past few days, bombarded by the media attention that's come with his new position
of power.

Mr Katter is yet to decide when to fly to Canberra to meet with fellow independents
Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor, both from NSW, but that could happen as early as Monday
afternoon, the spokeswoman said.
