Bvo: Cook and Barnett win again
Sydney 2000 gold medallist NATALIE COOK and her new partner TAMSIN BARNETT have qualified
at the top of Pool C at the Olympic beach volleyball tournament.
The Australians edged out Brazilians LARISSA FRANCA and ANA PAULA CONNOLLY 23-21 23-21,
the victory guaranteeing them a much easier opponent in the sudden-death round-of-16 phase
starting on Friday.
The Australian men's team of ANDREW SCHACHT and JOSH SLACK lost to Brazil's reigning
Olympic champions RICARDO SANTOS and EMANUEL REGO 21-14 21-17 in their top-of-the-table
clash.
Despite the loss, SCHACHT and SLACK still advanced to the knockout rounds.
